Alberta's Security Services and Investigators Act defines a strict boundary between observation and security services. Home watch providers must stay firmly on the observation side of that line.

What this means

EquaVita does not provide security services. We document. We do not patrol, guard, monitor, or respond to alarms in any capacity that would meet the legislative definition of a security service.

How we enforce this

Our platform's real-time language filter scans every word a field worker types. If they use a prohibited term — 'patrol,' 'surveillance,' 'monitored,' 'guard,' and similar — submission is blocked and they're prompted with a compliant alternative ('visually observed,' 'property visit,' and so on).
